Today was the first day in a very, very, very long time where I had absolutely nothing whatsoever planned, so I slept in, had fried eggs and ham over wholegrain bread, spent a very enjoyable morning with Mr. RC in a garden centre and in the afternoon I made coffee and curled up on the couch to start reading fic.

Oh boy, now I remember why I love doing that! I've got some very specific activities involving Mr. RC planned for tonight. But first I'm going to read some more.

This afternoon my dad died. After months of sickness, with ups and downs and a short struggle in the end, he died peacefully at home. My sister and I are with my mom now, there's lots to share and lots to do.

I'm going to disable comments because I know I'll feel bad about not replying yet again to the sweet comments that will come.

Since I don't really celebrate, have a random hilarious vid, not related to Easter at all.

I've got a day off today with the house to myself and nothing planned but do some laundry and grocery shopping and that's it and oh my god I'm loving this.

Slept in a little, took a long shower, took ages picking a shot of Colin because I kept watching one vid after another from my Merlin folders, had some bacon butties complete with actual brown sauce and just treated myself to the umpteenth rewatch of the final Christmas special of the UK version of The Office, which never fails to leave me smiling with tears running down my cheeks.

And I've still got the whole afternoon to myself.

Arthur and Merlin are roommates at a boarding school. Despite the fact that their paths rarely cross otherwise, they slowly but surely get more intimate over time; Arthur once walks in on Merlin wanking and hearing tell tale sounds from the other bed at night turns into something tentatively acknowledged mutual. Then when Arthur finds himself with one of his arms in a cast for some time, Merlin helpfully 'lends a hand' and one thing leads to another.
I love the whole reverse thing where they start being horny teenagers wanking with whoever happens to be conveniently available and then slowly falling in love. It's hot and sweet and I especially love the pace at which they're going and all the delicious kissing and touching that's bracketing the sex.

Summary: Arthur doesn't care much about the popular radio program Dragon's Lonely Hearts until his ex-girlfriend calls in to slag him off and get advice. When he calls in and has an on-air argument with the host, it starts off more than he expected, including meddling friends, overinvolved fans, and maybe love.
Gentle and warm with lovely banter mixed in. The first part was mostly nice and quiet, but somewhere along the line I noticed I was reading with a smile on my face and a fluttering feeling in my stomach. Definitely a feel good fic.

'Wager of battle' by destina (Arthur/Merlin, 12,000 words, R)
Summary: When a knight-in-training mistreats Merlin, Arthur is most displeased. Trial by combat ensues, but it's not Arthur who takes up the sword.
Initially I felt a bit indignant with Arthur for making it so difficult for Merlin, until I realized that instead of defending Merlin like a damsel in distress he was working him hard so Merlin could defend himself. And then there are the moments of warm concern for Merlin and where Arthur takes care of him.
Nice parts for the knights and also for George, the perfect manservant.

'By the river' by nympha_alba (Arthur/Merlin, 500 words, PG-13)
Summary: Arthur watches Merlin bathe in a river and is fascinated by the contrast of black body hair on white skin.
Deliciously erotic and desperately made me want to be watching the both of them from behind another tree.

'The best part of waking up' by slightlytookish (Gwaine/Merlin, modern AU, 900 words, PG)
Summary: Merlin never meant to make a habit of buying coffee every day, but there's a new barista in town and he's just a bit charming.
Blatant flirting meets slowly dawning realisation and make for a happy ending.

'Post meridian' by angstslashhope (Arthur/Merlin, 3,800 words, NC-17)
An established relationship fic in which they have sex for the first time after the events in 4x3. They're both hurting in different ways, needing to re-establish where they stand with each other. The sex is emotional, claiming, comforting, bonding and red hot. And what were selling points for me may be warnings for others, so I'll mention these here: one initiating sex while the other is still asleep, some D/s, hair-pulling, restraining and biting.

Written for the prompt: Arthur helps Merlin put lotion on his back every day because Merlin has super-dry skin.
Merlin has everything under control, until he meets Arthur and he realizes that he's been quite alone with his secret. The potential angst never really sets in because of Arthur being so awesome. I admit to crying happy tears while reading.

Lately I've been basically either at work or at my parent's place except for two afternoons (today and last Thursday) where I could rummage around the house doing some chores, which turns out to be a damn relaxing thing to do actually.

Basically since this weekend I found myself sitting around, knitting or reading. My parents don't have a computer, so today between takes I treated myself to some fanfic and damn, that was nice! It's been such a long time. I still have some things to do this evening, so if anyone could link me to anything happy I'd love that. Any rating, I love Arthur/Merlin but I'm open to other pairings, any length as long as it's not too epic because frankly my attention-span currently isn't what is used to be where fics are concerned. I'd love to take something with me on my E-reader.

I still haven't got a clue when things will be back to 'normal'. I still won't be around much. Oh, and sorry for suddenly dropping out of conversations whenever I do engage occasionally.
